The Vineyard
The vineyard comprises 72 hectares, 178 acres, in the Agrelo district of Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, one of the most prestigious wine making regions in the world, birthplace of some of the finest and most iconic argentine wines. We have a vast and rich pallet of grape varieties, permitting our imagination to create innovative blends to suit the taste of many demanding palates.
The terroir
The plantation, at an altitude of 960 meters asl, (3150 feet asl) stretches over the coolest area of Agrelo, well known as “the fridge”, where devastating frosts are the main threat of every harvest year after year. There is broad thermal amplitude of about 14 ºC between day and night .This phenomenon allows grapes to achieve great tannic concentration which provides structure to high quality wines.
Soils are alluvial with deep stretches that go from clay soils to sandy-loam westbound.
Wines from this region present fruity notes, especially ripe plum. In addition, spices such as black pepper are revealed and they hold a mild mineral expression. In the mouth, they are opulent wines, with soft and sweet tannins.
Grape Varieties
In the beginning there were:
Malbec: 2.5 hectares (6 acres) driven in an over 40 year old arbor structure called “Parral”. Parral System contributes to dettach the clusters from the soil as a defense to the frosts.
